This Cognac borders on perfection, finesse and complexity complemented by a refreshing lift on the finish.

Nose; The wonderful, heady aromatic tang, borne of long wood ageing is immediately compelling. This gives way to hints of wood, dried fruits and tobacco - very rich and generous..

Palate; An extremely appetising cognac, opulent, rounded and yet vivacious. Pepper and spices emerge initially before revealing dark chocolate and fresh herbs. Complex, it shows supreme finesse, supple opulence and very good length..

Tesseron Cognac Lot No.29 Exception is the rare jewel of the Tesseron collection of Cognacs. A unique blend of legendary Grande Champagne, the cream of our oldest and rarest stocks, lovingly aged for at least three generations. Balancing power and finesse, Exception has a floral bouquet, allied to chocolate and mocha notes. This is complemented by that elusive, ethereal nose which is so typical of only the very best old cognac. This subtle elixir has an extraordinarily long aftertaste, and its lovely amber highlights reflect its very slow ageing - the quintessence of elegance.

Colour; Lustrous topaz.

Nose; Here again we have that heady, decadent aged nose, followed by layers of honey, figs, plums and exotic fruit laced with oak. Unctuous and silky this retains a wonderful freshness and vitality throughout.

Palate; Supremely elegant, this combines macerated dried fruit with hints of mocha and cocoa, refreshed by floral aromatics. This is extremely well balanced and wonderfully complex with marmalade notes emerging on a persistent, stylish finish.

To compliment the strength and complexity of cigars, this blend is made predominantly of Grande Champagne and aged in new barrels to give the Cognac a more tannic edge. Indeed, the Cognac is moved every two years into new barrels to maximise the influence of the new oak character. This more woody profile and higher ABV content give the Cognac a rich, strong and complex character which will enhance any cigar smoking experience and expand the repertoire of those wishing to learn about this most noble of drinks categories.

Tasting Notes

Nose – Rich and fruity, with raisin-flecked baked apples, and sweet and sour stewed orchard fruit – more apples and pears. Soft spiciness develops in the glass.

Palate – The palate is rounded and sweet, with weighty and darker edges. Sweet apple takes the centre ground, with hot chocolate, milk chocolate and fruity dark chocolate coming in from the sides. Spice grows across the palate, along with some drier notes – fruit skin and rich earth.

Finish – Warming spice; aniseed and cinnamon, pears and dark chocolate.

Comment – A robust Cognac that will stand up to all but the weightiest of cigars. However, when drunk alone, this shows a softer, fruitier and more complex side.

This famous cognac takes its name from a plot containing some of the estate?s oldest vineyards, on which are planted 60% Ugni Blanc and 40% Folle Blanche and Colombard. This balanced blend lends the cognac exceptional charm and the plot?s elevated status allows it to receive more sun; it is always harvested first. The wines are distilled and aged separately and have produced exactly the same style of cognac for four generations.
