What makes a Fielden whisky? The heritage grains. Harvest 2019 is a celebration of the grains we gathered that year. Unlike other whiskies, where the vintage tells you when the whisky went into the cask (with grain from any year), Fielden’s vintage means the whisky is made from the same grain harvest.

Mild weather and summer rain meant the rye we harvested in 2019 was brighter and more delicate than previous years. It makes a whisky that tastes of early summer: fresh, floral and full of flavour.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Roses and herbs with fresh ginger, apricot and a little butter.

Taste: Refreshing herbs and delicate summer fruits, soft pastries: brioche bun, cream and warming apple crumble.

What makes a Fielden whisky? The heritage grains. Working with heritage grains, grown for flavour not yield, our whiskies are distinctly delicious.

Fielden’s grains grow deeper roots and take in more nutrients from the soil, so they’re full of flavour. It means we’re putting the best (completely natural) ingredients into our stills. The grains we grow and the land we grow them on make a difference to our whisky, to farming and to our planet.

Under the watchful eye of our master distiller, Dave Scheurich, Boondocks Bottled in Bond Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey was nurtured from developing the proprietary mash bill to determining the exact moment it was ready to come out of the barrels, and his craftsmanship produced one of the finest Rye Whiskey’s in his storied career.

Tasting Notes

Rich caramel, vanilla, and grassy notes on the nose. Full-bodied and complex with flavors of butterscotch and toffee, a spicy bite balanced by flavors of dark fruits like raisins and dates with a hint of grain and grassiness. Big mouthfeel with a warm and subtle sweetness, and a lingering pleasant finish.

A celebration of our farm, brewery and distillery. Our distillery ethos is ‘respecting tradition but doing things our own way’ and that’s never more true than this release! Whisky aged in Porter casks is quite unusual but for us, with our farm, brewery and distillery (and an award-winning Porter beer), it seemed like a great idea to try. And we’re very pleased that we did!
