Chorlton Whisky Jura 15 Years Old Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl / 52.8%)

I must admit to being a bit of a Jura-sceptic, but this one won me over!

The nose is waxy and oily, with custard creams, sea air, a little smoky grist, weissbier, mango chutney and orange boiled sweets. The palate is sweet, citrussy and oily, with spiced orange, herbs, rye and a touch of eucalyptus. The finish is really salty, with sweet citrus and Ricola sweets lingering.

There’s masses of character here, with a real maritime feeling, but packed into a dram that feels easy-going and fun.

This bourbon barrel produced only 201 bottles at a cask strength of 52.8%.
