Chorlton Whisky Dun Dearg 5 Years Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl / 56.9%)

This is an Islay blended malt I’ve put together with 2/3rds 5yo single malt from a very famous distillery on Islay’s south coast, and 1/3rd 15yo single malt from the east coast. (Feel free to drop me a line if you’d like the full details!)

The nose has charred Tunnocks wafer, smoked olive oil, honey, tar and citrus oil. The palate has a big oily peat arrival, with salt and burnt lemon peel, developing on liquorice root, dark soy sauce, cigars and smoked chocolate cake. A drop of water brings out a cleaner and fruitier side, with eucalyptus, pear, melon and sweet citrussy smoke.

This vatting produced 507 bottles at a natural strength of 56.9%.
