Hobart No.4 Gin is a small batch Tasmanian Dry Gin from the makers of Sullivan's Cove Whisky. This seductively rich spirit is double distilled in a pot still from the island's barley and soft water and enriched with four native Australian botanicals - Lemon Myrtle, Anise Myrtle, Lanceolata and Wattle-seed.

The original gins of the 17th, 18th and 19th Century were made using malted barley spirit but this practice was lost as more efficient distillation methods were developed, often at the expense of quality. An often overlooked fact of modern Gin making is that the spirit is just as important as the botanicals. The spirit provides the body, the vehicle to transport the delicate herb, spice, fruit and floral notes and essences, and crucially, to provide mouth-feel. Tasmania Distillery produces some of the best malted barley spirit in the world and that?s why they make their Gin using the exact same malt spirit that they use to make their famous world class whiskies. It lends the Gin a weight, body and character that you?ll recognise and appreciate from the first sip.
