Description

Amrut Single Malt Indian Whisky (70cl / 46%)

Produced from malted barley grown in the Punjab, this non-age-statement single malt whisky is matured in ex-bourbon barrels and has distinctive aromas of spice and ripe fruit.

Tasting Notes

Nose; Sweet, with candy necklaces and Love Hearts joined by honeysuckle and a gentle touch of sour lemon. Notes of apple develop – both sweet and floury apples as well as intensely flavoured boiled sweets.

Palate; An initial creaminess is swept into the background by sweet and sour fruit – apples, crunchy pears, unripe pineapple, mango and hints of banana. Sharp clove spice sits behind that, with tannic fruit skin dryness at the very back.

Finish; Very long. Sweet and grainy, with damp leaves and liquorice.

Comment; Fresh and fruity, but with enough darkness and spice behind to make this an excellent all-round whisky.
